Conducting the caregiver survey provides a holistic view of student learning, yielding valuable, more comprehensive insight into the student’s access to learning in a home environment.
It is highly recommended that an assessor deliver the survey to the caregiver in the school or home environment.
If if the caregiver(s) are unavailable on assessment day, it is encouraged to schedule time for surveys to be completed. It provides an opportunity for both educator and caregiver to discuss the importance of literacy and oral language development, assessment updates, learning activities to be completed at home, or other opportunities for caregivers to support their child’s oral language development.
There are three ways for caregivers to conduct the survey: on the assessment app, at home in the Caregiver Portal or with a generated link. This article will look at conducting the survey on Assessment Day with the assessment app.
Caregivers can complete their surveys in school, at home or on Assessment Day via the assessment app.
To conduct the caregiver assessment, login to the app and choose ‘Caregiver’.
From the drop down menus, choose the school and student relevant to the caregiver being assessed. Select ‘Start Survey’ to begin.
Have the caregiver follow the on-screen instructions and answer each question in the assessment truthfully and in their entirety.
When the caregiver reaches the end of the survey, have them pass you the assessment device and select ‘Submit Survey’. There will be an option to submit a personalized note with the assessment results (if needed).
